Hedi Slimane leaves Dior and comes back to YSL

Hedi Slimane, the fashion designer credited with having revolutionized menswear at Christian Dior, is to become creative director at Yves Saint Laurent (YSL).
As per sources, he is becoming the new director at Yves Saint Laurent, adding that the two sides had already a contract. The appointment was due to be officially announced in the coming week: Paris Fashion Week runs from February 28 to March 7.
Slimane, returning to the fashion industry after several years away, would replace the Italian designer, Stefano Pilati, rumoured since last autumn to be on the way out. Slimane, now 43, spent seven years as artistic director at Dior before moving on in 2007, saying he wanted a chance to design for women. He is considered by his peers as one of the most gifted designers of his generation.
With the move to YSL he is coming full circle. He first arrived there in 1997 as head of the menswear collection, leaving in 2000 when the Italian house Gucci bought it, bringing in its house stylist Tom Ford.

Christian Louboutin sues Yves Saint Laurent

Christian Louboutin S.A, the makers of some of the world’s sexiest women shoes, has filed a lawsuit in U.S. District Court in Manhattan against Yves Saint Laurent S.A.S., another French company based in Paris, accusing the latter of unfairly copying its line of women’s shoes with red soles. The lawsuit says designer Christian Louboutin originated the Red Sole logo trademark nearly 20 years ago, after he painted red nail polish on the black soles of a pair of women’s shoes.
The reason given to resolve the copyright issue is the popularity of these shoes with celebs like Sarah Jessica Parker, Scarlett Johansson and Halle Berry among others.

French football team, Nike, its official sponsor and accessories-maker colette have joined hands to create The Away Project. Part of this, is the Shiny edition of the iPhone 4 3G+ Cell phone. The project runs until April 9. In her first work since the death of her partner Franois-Xavier in 2008, Claude’s new works is produced in a limited edition of 700 and represented exclusively in the U.S. by Maison Grard in New York. Comprising of delicate gilt bronze candleholders sporting art nouveau”"inspired snake, butterfly, and leaf designs, each hold a honeysuckle-scented candle developed by the Parisian fragrance company Quintessence with Madame Lalanne. Priced at $4,800 each, they are sure to make hearts warmer as gifts.
