Blancpain Calendrier Chinois Traditionnel the first wristwatch

While most brands have opted to put their best bejeweled foot forward at this gala affair, Blancpain has decided to stand apart with their unique offering the Traditional Chinese Calendar watch. Paying tribute to the age-old Chinese culture and traditions like the Chinese calendar which has a number of believers and followers, Blancpain takes pride in introducing a world-exclusive version of the first wristwatch equipped with a traditional Chinese calendar. Besides the hours, minutes and the Gregorian calendar, the dial is home to the Chinese calendar which features traditional double-hour indication, day, month with indication of leap months, signs of the zodiac, as well as the five elements and the 10 celestial stems. The moon phases, a key element in Blancpain complete calendars, are also presented in this beautiful timepiece.
It is being powered by a new self-winding Calibre 3638 powering this watch boasts of a 7-day power reserve. The 45 mm-diameter platinum case is fitted with a crown adorned with a cabochon-cut ruby. The timepiece boasts of signature features of the Villeret collection like the double-stepped shape, a grand feu enamel dial with a chapter ring composed of gold appliques ,and indications transferred before the firing process, the main hands shaped like slightly hollowed leaves, and the blued steel Gregorian date pointer appearing in the traditional serpentine form. A limited edition offering, this breathtaking creation from Blancpain is restricted to 20 pieces only , each equipped with a white gold oscillating weight, set with a Madagascar ruby and engraved with a dragon to celebrate the year 2012.

But the new Dunhill Black Diamond Classic wristwatch, is another ball game altogether. To begin with, it comes with a crushed black diamond covered 38mm dial face. Working on the ultra-slim Grand Master automatic movement by Jaeger-LeCoultre Calibre 89, the matt shine watch features a matte black alligator leather strap.

The innovative watch is actually a reinterpretation of an invention of Karl Scheufele I: the founder of Eszeha, the Scheufele family company, and the now president of Chopard.
World’s rarest and exclusive jewelries to be soon up for sale at Sotheby’s
Sotheby’s New York will be selling the world’s most rare and exclusive jewelries in Hong Kong and New York on April 7 and 20 respectively.
The sale includes 7 glittering accessories being parted by British philanthropist Patricia Kluge which include a 1984 Cartier platinum, diamond and sapphire Panthƒ¨re wristwatch, a pair of platinum and diamond pendant-earclips estimated to sell for ‚£530,000, a platinum and diamond ring set with a 20.15 carats of pear-shaped diamonds valued at ‚£132,000, a pinkish-orange diamond which weighs 7.67 carats , framed and flanked by round diamonds mounted in platinum and 18 carat pink gold expected to fetch ‚£2.3million and a rare Burmese ruby ring and a rich collection of Kashmire sapphires.
The sale will also include a rare, large blue diamond that was once part of the legendary De Beers Millennium collection, expected to sell for ‚£3-‚£3.8million
According to Terry Chu, deputy head of Sotheby’s jewelry department for China and Southeast Asia, diamonds were particularly appealing to new Asian buyers because of stable prices and assured quality. There have been a lot of new diamond buyers from mainland China, Hong Kong, Singapore, Taiwan and elsewhere in the region.
‘A Time Table’ by David Linley Furniture

David Linley Furniture has unveiled this magnificent piece of art that features an acrylic clock dial set within rosewood. Priced at $30,800, this one of a kind piece stands on a leather base that gives it the shape of a wristwatch strap and is covered by another layer of functioning glass to protect and provide a usable surface.
What’s more, this time table has been given a nickel-plated crown which can be illuminated using electric power.
Jaeger-LeCoultre Gyroturbillon 1 selling for $339,995
The Jaeger-LeCoultre Gyrotourbillon 1 wristwatch is being said to be one of the most complicated watches in the world, priced at $400,000.
Limited to only 75 units, the super luxury watch boasts of the following:
- Spherical Tourbillon carriage that rotates upon multiple axes
- 43mm platinum case
- Transparent case back
- 679 parts and 117 jewels
- A sapphire crystal
- Gyroscopic Tourbillon
- Black crocodile leather strap
Not to mention, the watch displays the hours, minutes, power reserve, perpetual calendar, date, month and leap year.
FYI: As its weekly special, online jeweler SoKoBe is selling the Jaeger-LeCoultre Gyrotourbillon 1 wristwatch for about 20 percent less than the normal price, i.e. $339,995.
