KAWS Light Bulbs, Standard Hotel

The Standard hotel just launched their collaboration with artist KAWS for limited edition filament light bulbs. The limited edition light bulbs are being sold as a three-bulb set by The Standard. There will 1,000 sets of the red, purple and green filament bulbs in KAWS signature XX mark.

Along with the light bulbs, two different types of KAWS pillows in multiple colors and KAWS companion key chains will also be exclusively available for sale at New York shop. Brooklyn-based artist and designer Brian Donnelly, a.k.a. KAWS, has created graffiti writings and street art; graphic, industrial and product design, including limited toy editions and streetwear fashion, sketches, drawings, paintings, murals, and sculptures.

Rare Picasso masterpieces to be auctioned

Nobody else but only Pablo Picasso could think of making a portrait of himself without being overly self critical. In one-of-its-kind of auction-cum-display, the Metropolitan Museum of Art has planned to put up all its Picasso paintings, drawings, sculptures and ceramics on public display. The auction cum display will also include the damaged and the restored artwork of the legend which is known by the name Å”The Actor.

The rare masterpieces which will be auctioned are “Nude, Green Leaves and Bust” (Christie’s) and “Femme au Chapeau, Buste” (Sotheby’s). While “Nude, Green Leaves and Bust” is expected to draw between $70 million and $90 million, “Femme au Chapeau, Buste” is touted to earn $8 million to $12 million.

250 year-old jade elephants to be auctioned for millions

Historic sculptures and artworks have always fetched million of dollars in various auctions. This time auctioneers Woolley and Wallis are expecting the same to happen when they auction one of the rarest jade elephants which were made for Emperor Qianlong almost 250-year years ago.

These sculptures measure just 7.5 inches long and 6.5 inches high, and are said to be made by China’s finest craftsmen.

The bidding start price of these sculptures is expected to be around ‚£250,000, ($388,000). These art pieces are believed to be brought to Britain in the 19th century before it became the prized possession of Mary Anna Marten, OBE, who died this year aged 80.

Along with these elephants there will be one more item possessed by Marten will be included in the auction which is a Chinese imperial white jade bell. the auction will take place on May 19th in Salisbury.

Louis Vuitton, the luxury fashion house is all set to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Apollo 11′s lunar landing by creating a special customized Å”Malle Mars trunk.

This is a custom made trunk and has a variety of compartments, equipped with all kind of space requirements foe a trip to Mars. It offers pharmaceuticals drawers, medication tools, picnic wares, and shelves for dishware plus a folding lounge chair for leisurely views of Mother Earth from the stars. The trunk as well as other NASA photographs, space toys, sculptures and astronomy photos will be displayed at the Rose Center for Earth and Space at the American Museum of Natural History from today onwards.
