Burj Khalifa, where the infinite horizons of Earth seem like a small landscape and one feels ‘At the Top’ at the 124th floor of the high rise building, will soon have its very own dining place at the 122nd floor. The skyscraper earlier was void of any eating outlet at that height, will see what is touted at the world’s highest restaurant. The outlet will be designed by renowned hotel designer, Adam Tihany, and will be dubbed Atmosphere. Though the building already has world’s first Armani Hotel, Atmosphere is likely to take to the higher altitude.

Sir Richard Branson’s $15 million mosquito island to be or not to be made public

Virgin Tycoon Richard Branson has been seeing tough days ever since he bought the Mosquito Island for $15 million.

And especially after the local law ruled that the exclusive eco-friendly villas that he had planned to construct would have to be made publicly open, he realizes that his problems have only started.

According to the local law, any beach that comes up to the high-water mark is Crown land, and hence is open to the public visits.

Designed to be a top notch resort with 20 villas and a beautiful beachfront restaurant, the Mosquito Island was purchased from Viscount Cobham for $277,680.

The building material will consist of carbon-neutral; wind, wave and sun would provide the power; there is also a butterfly park.

A desert rose for the new National Museum of Qatar

Pritzker Prize-winning architect Jean Nouvel has presented what he has planned for the new National Museum of Qatar.

The National Museum of Qatar building, like a desert rose, appears to grow out of the ground and an irreplaceable part of it.

Located on a 1.5 million-square-foot site at the south end of Dohas Corniche, the building will provide 86,000 square feet of permanent gallery space, 21,500 square feet of temporary gallery space, a 220-seat auditorium, a 70-seat food forum / TV studio, two cafƒs, a restaurant and a museum shop.

The Museum will be surrounded by a 1.2 million-square-foot landscaped park that interprets a Qatari desert landscape. There will also be plantings including native grasses and indigenous plants, such as pomegranate trees, date palms, herbs and the Sidra tree, the national tree of Qatar.

The Museum is working to achieve a USGBC LEED Silver rating through these sustainability measures, among others.

According to Jean Nouvel, this museum is a modern-day caravanserai. From here you leave the desert behind, returning with treasured images that remain engraved on your memory. The National Museum of Qatar will become the voice of a culture, delivering a message of modernity, metamorphosis and the beauty that happens when the desert meets the sea
