Jackie Stewart crashes a Pagani Zanda in Scotland

Three-time Formula One world champion Sir Jackie Stewart reportedly crashed his Pagani Zonda S, C12 S variant of 2000 or the C12 S 7.3 of 2002 near Aberdeen, Scotland.
The car which lost control on a narrow country road and collided with a telegraph pole before smashing through a fence has been sent to the Modena factory for repairs, with the bill estimated to cost up to $450,000.
According to insurers Aviva, this is the biggest insurance pay-out they have had for repairs to a private car in the UK. This is out-of-the-ordinary for an insurer.

Richemont increases stake in Net-a-Porter Pvt. Ltd

Swiss luxury goods maker Compagnie Financiƒ¨re Richemont SA has announced that it is planning to buy U.K. based online luxury retailer Net-a-Porter Pvt. Ltd ” which was founded in 2000 by former fashion journalist Natalie Massenet.
Richemont, which is also the owner of brands such as Cartier, Montblanc and Chloe earlier held a 33% stake in the company, and now with a hefty bid of $341 million to private shareholders, it holds a stake of $472.5 million.
According to Net-a-porter Pvt. Ltd, the company has been profitable since 2004 and reported sales of about $161.68million for the fiscal year that ended on Jan. 31. It has also established itself as an interactive shopping fashion magazine, publishing 52 weeks of editorial content each year alongside its designer clothes sales operation.
The first Ferrari 458 Italia sells for $530,000


Ferrari auctioned the first Ferrari 458 Italia to arrive in the United States and donated all the proceeds of the sale, including the hefty $530,000, the car’s winning bid, for Haiti relief through CMMB (Catholic Medical Mission Board) and the William J. Clinton Foundation,
The auction was conducted at a private home in the Holmby Hills by the Wall Street Journal’s Pulitzer Prize-winning automotive journalist Dan Neil, represented by Piero Ferrari, Deputy Chairman and son of Enzo Ferrari, Amedeo Felisa, worldwide CEO of the company, and Marco Mattiacci, the newly appointed North American CEO.
The other items that were sold at the charity auction apart from the first Ferrari 458 Italia, was the suit worn by Fernando Alonso in F1 that went for $72,000 and a pair of tickets to the Canadian Grand Prix in June.‚
New York auction to see two extremely rare jewels
Come 22nd April, Christie will be auctioning two very rare and exquisite jewels ” the Emperor Maximilian Diamond and the Catherine the Great Emerald and Diamond Brooch.
The Emperor Maximilian Diamond that is expected to fetch from $1million – $1.5million, weighs 39.55 carats and is one of the two large diamonds the Archduke Maximilian acquired in Brazil in 1860, and was still wearing the diamond around his neck when he was executed on June 19, 1867.
The auction that will be held next month also marks the first public viewing of this historic diamond since 1982.
The other jewel to be up for sale is the Catherine the Great Emerald and Diamond Brooch, which is again expected to fetch anything between $1 million to $1.5 million, incorporates a beautiful hexagonal-cut Colombian emerald, weighing between 60 and 70 carats and has been built within rows of rose and old mine-cut diamonds, further mounted in silver-topped gold.
This striking emerald was formerly owned by greatest jewelry collectors of all time, Catherine II of Russia, and was still the property of the next three generations of the noble house of Hohenzoller before being sold in 1972 to a private American buyer.‚
