A Masterpiece by Pablo Picasso up on display at Christie’s

A Pablo Picasso painting – Portrait of Angel Fernandez de Soto (The Absinthe Drinker) ” will be put for sale at Christie’s auction of Impressionist and Modern Art in London on June 23.

According to Jussi Pylkkanen, head of Christie’s Europe division, the painting is one of the most important works of art to be offered at auction in decades.

Expected to fetch between $46.4 to $61.9 million, The Absinthe Drinker was formerly acquired by The Andrew Lloyd Webber Foundation at an auction in New York in May 1995 for $29.2 million.

Proceeds from the sale will be donated to The Andrew Lloyd Webber Foundation whose principal objectives are to promote the advancement of the arts, culture and heritage for the public benefit.

Another product by Cabestan ” Sol Invictus’- is the first watch to combine a chain & fusƒe with drums and vertical tourbillon in a watch.

Priced at $560,000, the Sol Invictus’ features the use of two brushless motors. While one is used for rewinding the movement, the other is used for setting the time. Also, a miniature controller has been built-in to manage the electrical charge and the speed of the motors, all of which are complimented by the rechargeable lithium-ion batteries.

Porsche Presents 918 Spyder High-Performance Concept

In a move to increase the Company’s competence in hybrid technology, Porsche has presented a high-performance mid-engined concept sports car ” the Porsche 918 Spyder.

One of the biggest hits at this year’s Geneva Motor Show, the Porsche 918 Spyder combines high-tech racing features and electro-mobility to offer a fascinating range of qualities.

Specifications include a 3.4-litre engine, super-slick plug-in hybrid for better fuel economy, 500bhp petrol V8 with two electric motors for a combined 718bhp, top speed of more than 198mph (zero-to-100-km/h run in 3.2 seconds), electric front axle drive and a flywheel energy reservoir.

Porsche also released two other hybrids at the Geneva show; a Cayenne S Hybrid SUV with parallel full-hybrid drive and a 911 GT3 R Hybrid racing car with electric drive on the front axle and a flywheel mass battery.

Pininfarina Ferraris for sale in Amelia Island Auction 2010

Four days from now, Gooding & Company will present a stellar collection of Pininfarina-styled Ferraris, during its debut Amelia Island Auction. The collection includes a very rare 1965 Ferrari 500 Superfast Coup, one of only 36 ever made.

This extremely rare vintage vehicle which was once owned by Prince Sadruddin Aga Khan and Pierre Bardinon, owner of the famed Mas du, will probably go for close to $1 million.
