All in all luxury goes well with China, when it comes to all things luxurious. After toppling India to become the world’s largest consumer of Gold, China has now overtaken US in the demand for luxury watches. According to a survey based on internet searches, China has now become the emerging market and also the most demanding market for luxury timepieces. China represents 23 percent of all watch-related searches, according to the WorldWatchReport, published by Digital Luxury Group. Omega is the brand that is most in demand followed by Longines and Rolex in China.

This is the first time that the US has been toppled from the top position, as US has always been number one in this list ever since the survey began in 2004. Countries like India and Japan also showed a considerable rise in their rankings on this list, this year. The WorldWatchReport measures and benchmarks more than 50 digital indicators to analyze the performance of 40 luxuries watch brands across 20 international markets. While there is no connection between the virtual demand and actual sales, it does show the growing awareness and popularity of these brands in the emerging markets.

Omega has recently come out with a GMT complication in the shed of a new caliber. In order to show their new proprietary movement, the watch brand has come up with the latest Omega Seamaster, named as the Aqua Terra GMT. The watch will be powered by Omega’s Co-Axial Caliber 8605/8615. The stunning new watch will sport a 43mm case that can be picked up steel, red gold, or a combination of gold and steel. The wood-patterned dial features a diamond-polished red arrow, to track time in GMT. The watch is also encrusted with a 24-hour ring can be seen at the inner edge of the hour markers, both together show the time in GMT.

The dial of this timepiece is marked with distinct green elements on the minute and second’s track. Powered by the Omega Co-Axial caliber 8500 signature movement featured first in 2007, the benchmark for future watch was set ever since. The western markets made in China could mean a knock off but a new trend is emerging in China now of proudly crafted in China. The Chinese Timekeeper or CTK is a very good example of this trend. It is a new luxury watch brand that wants to be recognized as being distinctively Chinese.

Bain & Co. has studied the Chinese watch market closely and says in its report that the market is growing at 35% annually. Cartier, Longines, Omega, Rolex and Tudor are the five brands that dominate the Chinese watch market at the moment. Instead of imitating the well entrenched brands CTK is embracing Chinas history to create the first exclusive Chinese watch collection, which consists of six models simply known as CTK01-06.

The inspiration for the design of CTK’s new collection is drawn from Su Song’s clock tower. Each step of the design is a recreation of the clock tower. Four large screws on the bezel hold four layers of stainless steel rings that make up the case.

Omega has remained synonymous for its aesthetic and is taking elegance to a new level is the Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra Jewellery Co-Axial Collection. A mid-sized 38.50 mm timepiece collection that combines contemporary design, the luster of diamonds and the Co-Axial technology “” part of The Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra collection. The watches come with a facetted 18 Ct gold hands with diamond-polished sides and brushed tops; the hour and minute hands are coated with Super-LumiNova and polished screw-in sapphire crystal casebacks.

The new timepieces are available in a number of distinct configurations. The Red gold in 18 Ct red gold comes with a set of 52 full-cut diamonds and eleven single-cut diamonds to mark the hours and a brushed 18 Ct gold applied date window at 3 o’clock. Omega re-launches Ladymatic watches

It’s time to revisit mega’s renowned Ladymatic watches, as the company relaunches the iconic design again and this time equipped with Omega’s Co-Axial Caliber 8520/8521movement. The re-launched timepiece will have 27 versions.  The watch was first launched in 1955 as a part of the “De Ville” collection. Designed especially for women, this collection was Omega’s  first self-winding watches and featured the smallest automatic movement OMEGA had ever made. The collection was relaunched by the Hollywood star Nicole Kidman at the Ritz Carlton in Beijing.
