Apart from launching the Phantom Series II, the luxury automaker has turned the spotlight on an “exclusive on-stand guest lounge”. And flagging off the initiative is a two-tone Rolls-Royce Ghost, the first bespoke option for the year, with a two-tone Phantom model. The car on display sports an Infinity Black finish with a Cassiopeia Silver upper two-tone.

The car features Seashell headlining and black leather frames black stained ash veneer, with carefully crafted steel pinstripes. On the inside, you can see lambswool floor mats.The second dual-tonned offering has been made for a Middle East client. This car comes in a Baynunah Brown, with Arizona Sun bonnet, window surrounds, roof and luggage compartment color scheme. And for that added dash of luxury, its features a gold-plated Spirit of Ecstasy hood ornament along with a double coach-line in gold finish.’

Al Maabar has committed an investment of $300 million in a luxury hotel in Jordan. It has ambitious plans for MENA that is, Middle East and North Africa. They have announced that they will be going ahead with all the planned projects for the region.

The Amman hotel will be branded St. Regis from the Starwood stable. The hotel with 270 rooms is expected to be ready for business by the first quarter of 2014. Apart from the guest rooms the hotel will also have apartments and high end shops. Jordan has a large population of wealthy residents, expats and tourists who generate tremendous demand for hotels; hence the banks are more than willing to finance such projects.

Another major project for Al Maabar in Jordan is a group of 350 to 400 townhouses in Aqaba that will require an investment of $250 million. Al Maabar has about $1 billion worth of projects under development currently. In Morocco, the first phase of the Bab Al Bahr project is sold out and the second phase is to start soon. In Tripoli, Libya a $300 million project is to start soon.

On Wednesday, April 14, 2010, Sotheby’s biannual Arts of the Islamic World Auction will put for sale a 16th century Ottoman ivory and turquoise-inlaid box set with rubies.

An astonishing talent of Safavid craftsmen for the exclusive use of the Shah and the governing elite during the first half of the 16th century, the box measures 17.3cm in length, 8.8cm in width and 3.2cm in height.

  • Ivory filets carefully fitted along the object’s edges
  • Mosaic-sliced turquoise or firuzekari
  • Split-Palmette patterns
