Luxury Property Demand Outstrips Supply in London & Manhattan

Luxury Property Demand Outstrips Supply in London & Manhattan

According to real-estate broker Savills Plc, the number of London houses and apartments that sold for more than 5 million pounds rose 31 percent to 262 in the nine months through September. Over in Manhattan, the supply of apartments for sale over 5 million dollars, reached the lowest level for an October since 2007. As Shari Scharfer-Rollins, SVP at the Corcoran Group brokerage puts it: “Inventory is down and demand is up.”

Christie’s recent State of the International Luxury Market report suggested that scarcity of property was driving up luxury real estate prices, particularly in top cities such as London, Paris, Hong Kong, New York and Beverley Hills. The report also went on to muse that sellers worldwide have adapted to a new reality in luxury housing and are beginning to accept that their residence is not going to command the same price that it might have in 2007.

The 1 billion pound development is home to apartments ranging from £7 “” £136 million pounds each, which are according to Mr. Candy, attracting interest from buyer’s currently experiencing instability in home markets. We have a lot of viewings going on from any country that has got economic or political turmoil.

Property agency Knight Frank recently revealed research suggesting that Chinese buyers benefited from a 24 percent purchasing power discount based on the Yuan-sterling forex rate between the peak of the prime London housing market in March 2008 and October 2011.

Chinese luxury home buyers were said to be leading a legion of “cash-rich non-UK investors” in search of up market London homes, with demand driven by currency exchange rates that produce discounts of up to a quarter on purchase prices. A similar tale unfolds across the pond in Manhattan, as Ms. Scharfer-Rollins confirms: “The dollar is weak and I think foreign buyers find that they can get more in New York City as an investment than they used to be able to.”

Beatle then went to singer-cum-socialite Alma Cogan’s home to see if she knew it, playing it on her family’s 1926 mini piano with the improvised lyric: “Scrambled eggs, oh, my baby how I love your legs” The piano was later used by Mick Jagger, Sean Connery, John Lennon and Michael Caine – all friends of Alma. Her sister Sandra Caron is now auctioning the instrument.

Stylish Cases Hide Sinister Razors Within

Stylish Cases Hide Sinister Razors Within

When you have the opportunity to destroy or harm someone you detest, you surely should be doing that without any qualms anyway. If you were wondering how you could do that in style, here is how.

You would need to spend between $450 and $1,450 and buy one of these cool Sword Canes that look meek but chic, and nevertheless hide a sinister sharp blade inside. They can be used to kill, or destroy someone’s expensive art collection with just one flick. There isn’t more to talk about this anyway, for you would need to get this chic weapon and start acting out. So go ahead, and get the chic Sword Cane, and think and plan about how and whom you are going to harm.

Perhaps you could write a memoir about how many people’s lives you destroyed with this tiny little thing, and I am sure it would fetch a lot of money as well, at one of the bizarre auctions that are usually held in one of the slutty cities like London.

Green gets greener in London

Green gets Greener In London

The proposed development at the Hersham Golf Club, Surrey, London, is the most eco friendly project ever. It is a new five star hotel project that will be completely underground and the entire scheme will be covered with a plush green roof and merge totally with the surrounding countryside.

The proposed subterranean hotel pays the ultimate respects to London’s Green Belt by placing all of over 200 guest rooms underneath it with zero impact on the green environment. The design has been developed by Reardon Smith Architects. The aim is not just to maintain the status quo but the proposal includes the addition of extensive on-site re-vegetation and re-organization of existing spaces.

Reardon Smith’s project designer, Matthew Guy believes that it is perhaps the first time ever that a project of this magnitude is being taken up that provides a commercially viable solution to developing in the Green Belt. The hotel, spa and golf facilities are integrated with the environment. The design ensures that there are no compromises on the requirements for a bespoke five star hotel and in fact improves the physical layout of the site and makes it visually more attractive.
