Hotel prices could triple during Olympic Games 1

This Summer London is going to witness the Olympic Games due to which the hotel prices are going to face hike to an extend of three times the original price. As thousands of competitors, officials and spectators flood the city during the event. The average cost of a London hotel room during the games will be 337.865 USD a night, 102 percent up on the same period the year before, Hotels.com found.

Hotel prices could triple during Olympic Games

Hotels.com president David Roche warned that hoteliers may be holding back some rooms, releasing them slowly in the run up to the event to test how much people will pay — although he noted that some hotels ended up with lower occupancy after being ‘caught red-handed’ using this strategy during last year’s Royal Wedding. Camping is expected to be one of the biggest beneficiaries of the Games, with the World Travel Market Trend Report last year predicting that Londoners would be renting out their garden space using websites such as campinmygarden.com.

As per Alvaro Valeriani, Area Director of Sales & Marketing for Hyatt International in the United Kingdom and Ireland, they thought how fun it would be to provide interactive experiences for guests while they are having tea with a friend or with a business colleague. This way, his guests can get something else out of the experience that is not expected. They also wish to provide our guests with an additional cultural interaction something fun that really makes them feel like they are in London. The Saatchi Gallery seemed to be the perfect partner for that. Saatchi is such a forward thinker. They wanted to create something guests will not expect that will link them to this city and give them a nice thing to talk about when they go back home.

The first of a series of three exhibitions taking place at the hotel throughout 2012 is entitled One Giant Leap. The exhibition represents not only the huge step taken by the Saatchi Gallery and Hyatt Regency London – The Churchill to create this unique partnership, but also an introduction to the wide range of works drawn from the Saatchi Gallery’s collection which has consistently had a reputation for being ground-breaking and innovative.

The highlights of the exhibition include Martin Honert’s Reisen, a monumental sculpture of two giants, each almost 3-meters high, who appear to have stumbled into the hotel; a series of small paintings featuring children, teenagers and young athletes by the highly acclaimed painter Chantal Joffe; Christina Mackie’s life-size hippopotamus; two paintings by Dexter Dalwood in which he imagines what you might find if you were invited into the homes of Liberace and the Queen; and Stella Vine’s homage to Margaret Thatcher, an affectionate painting of the former Prime Minister and her husband Denis.
