Royal Drive Revs Up in the UAE

The megawealthy denizens of Dubai and Abu Dhabi are revving up for the Royal Drive, a three-day exotic auto orgy designed to showcase some of the insanely overleveraged attractions built in seemingly unending oil boom. 60 sickeningly rich folk will pilot their Ferraris, Lamborghinis, Aston Martins, Bentleys, Mercedes-McLaren SLRs, Gemballa Mirage GTs and all the rest, kicking off on March 18.
The event will begin at the 5-star Yas Hotel on Yas Island, home to the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix and upcoming Ferrari World theme park. From there the calvacade will continue to a circuit the Abu Dhabi Corniche beach boulevard (as featured on Top Gear) winding up at the 5-star Intercontinental Hotel at Dubai Creek. That night participants will enjoy VIP treatment at the Elements Music Concert in Dubai Festival City. Next day it’s back on the road to the Dubai Marina and a wrap party at the Walk at Jumeirah Beach Residences.
10,000th Lamborghini Gallardo Made

Lamborghini fans, take note”"there are now 10,000 Gallardos cruising the streets. On June 25th, 2010, the 10,000th such Luc Donckerwolke-designed sports car rolled off the factory line.
Aside from winning Top Gear’s Dream Car of the Year two years (2006 and 2009), it currently boasts a top speed of 201 miles per hour while hitting a 0 “” 60 sprint in just 3.8 seconds. Impressive? Of course. But it doesn’t really matter if a car does all that but still looks awful.
Luc Donckerwolke’s design has been celebrated as a break from previous Lamborghinis, like an improved exhaust system over earlier models and a lowering of the gear with a revised suspension. Due to these changes, the Lamborghini is more responsive and handles better than before.
Custom BMW X6

A very prolific racer in his younger years, Hamann made over 700 appearances, placing first in 103 of them “” mostly behind the wheels of BMWs, notably the M1.
It was in 1986 that he founded what would become a legendary tuning company, Hamann Motorsport. The very first car upgraded by the firm was a BMW M3 that was boosted to a top speed of 273 km/h, hitting 100 km/h in 5,1 seconds. Originally honing in on German cars only, Hamann Motorsport would later go on to customizing Lamborghinis, Ferraris and other international marques. As an homage, our pick stays true to the companies roots: this chubby 2009 bichrome Hamann BMW X6 is one of the last models made under his personal supervision.
Lamborghini Estoque

It’s already common knowledge that Lamborghinis are synonymous with perfection “” so much so that any Lamborghini can easily turn the head of the average shoe loving woman. Anyone, car lover or not can easily appreciate a Lamborghini’s undeniable Italian beauty! What’s the buzz surrounding the newest addition to the Lamborghini family? What sets the Estoque apart from other cars yet makes it worthy to bear the patent Lamborghini brand?
In a word – Serenity. Nestling in the plush bucket leather seats as the crystal clear sounds escape from the rear seat entertainment system add to the feeling of peace. The state of the art 22-inch wheels and the sleek wide opening doors add to the ambiance. The cockpit presents the commander of this road beast a large-area LCD screen displaying valuable vehicle and route information.
Distinction.
The Estoque is the first sedan carrying the Lamborghini brand into the future with its futuristic curves and superior v10 engine. The Estoque stands out as having the best of both worlds as truly being a practical sports car with an abundance of luggage space. Catering to today’s driver, from the Businessperson to the socialite to the showstopper the Estoque has it all.
Identifiable. Boasting its firm low stance, the Estoque is aerodynamically efficient. The sectioning gives the vehicle a defined form equipped with AWD, like all contemporary Lamborghinis. A cross between a first generation Aurora and a Gallardo the Estoque is unlike any other luxury car both in concept as well as design.

The new Spada Codatronca is an apt option for all those who are bored of the usual Lamborghinis, Audis, Ferraris etc. The car is designed by Paolo, Ercole Spada and Domiziano Boschi of Spadaconcept and built by Spadavetturesport for Aznom. It was unveiled at the Autodromo Nazionale Monza race circuit in Italy and is expected to release a street model soon. It is wrapped in an aluminium tubular chassis coated in carbon fibre, a twin-supercharged 7.0 litre V8 engine with 530kW power and 883Nm torque. Balboa Bay Club & Resort

Newport Beach, California was known for “Real Housewives” hijinks and giant luxury shopping malls, it was a sun-splashed, Pacific-edged swathe of pricey beach shacks and yachters’ hangouts.
Balboa Bay Club was the favorite members-only hideaway; though few were privileged enough to have the run of the 15-acre property, people from Newport and beyond delightedly passed rumors of the starry clientele. John Wayne (known by his nickname “Duke”), Frank Sinatra and Ronald and Nancy Reagan were just a few of the luminaries reported to frequent the place.
Though this may have dismayed a few of the old guard, Balboa Bay Club hasn’t changed all that much in character. It still isn’t the kind of place where reality TV stars congregate or flashy Lamborghinis grumble in the roundabout. Flashiness is downplayed here to conform to Balboa Bay’s sunny brand of understated posh. From the welcoming warmth of the open-air foyer to the nautical dcor to the squeals of children running in the halls, this is a place that seems steeped in generations of hospitality.
From 50-foot Sunseekers to 150-foot mega yachts, this collection represents the ultimate in wealth and freedom…particularly when you know that your neighbors just cruised up to a slip, fresh from a crewed jaunt to Cabo. Balboa Bay Club is a harborside home-away-from-home to the privileged few and a delightful South Orange County escape for those who know enough to find it.
McLaren MP4-12C finally flaunts a price tag
![]()
It’s McLauren first road car in decades, and after months of waiting the sport giant has finally put a price to its carbon-fibre tubbed MP4-12C, so you can own one. The good news is that for the sum of $229,000 you’ll have a car that’s on par with the Ferraris and Lamborghinis. The bad news however is that this would include no extras – like the bespoke paint, the lightweight wheels and the three-camera interiors.

Lamborghini unveils Sesto Elemento
Factually translated from Italian, the Lamborghini means “sixth element” and represents the Italian automaker’s dedication to carbon composites. Designed to demonstrate advancements in carbon-fiber development, the Sesto Elemento weighs in at an extraordinarily svelte 2,202 pounds. Due to this lightweight construction, Lamborghini claims that the concept car can reach 60 mph from a standstill in a Bugatti-like 2.5 seconds all this from a 570-horsepower version of the Gallardo’s V-10 engine.
But Lamborghini is not alone in this carbon-fiber research. The Italian automaker announced from the stand at the Paris show that it has teamed up with Callaway Golf. The first product to come out of this partnership is a material called Forged Composite. This new material can actually be shaped in a better way than standard carbon fiber, making more complicated angles easier to achieve. This might explain why the Sesto Elemento has more angles than a Picasso painting. Although it is merely a concept car, this latest model does provide a glimpse into Lamborghini’s future production pipeline and perhaps an even better idea of what to expect from the forthcoming Jota.
