BMW Smart key concept multi tasks as your credit card

bmw_smart-key.jpg After news that Ford is developing the MyKey, to keep your children’s driving habits under check, BMW has now gone ahead and developed a new key that could double up as a credit card. Considering that you can drive your BMW while the rest are still coping with the market crash, BMW thinks that it will ease the process for rich people to just pay off their parking, groceries, and bad debts via their car keys. After all handing over your car keys usually does mean raising the stakes on a gambling table! It is a nice concept for BMW to be working on; it eliminates the early morning frenzy to check for the essentials like the wallet, the keys, and the mobile. If the new BMW key takes off there would be lesser things to worry about as we leave for work, however handing over your car keys to pay your bills at a restaurant is a little too uncomfortable for me.

Remember John O’Quinn? That Houston Attorney who made a fortune in a multibillion dollar Texas tobacco settlement?

This time he went on to spend $335,000 on a Batmobile used in the film “Batman Forever.” Some other purchases he has made at the auction include a 1938 Cadillac Town Car used by Pope Pius XII which he bought for $250,000, a 1941 Packard limousine used by President Franklin D. Roosevelt for $290,000 and a celebrity-signed 2005 Lamborghini Gallardo for $500,000.

All proceeds from the sale went to benefit those groups which develop educational programs aimed at preventing child abuse, abduction, exploitation and injury.

And don’t miss this one – O’Quinn paid $690,000 at a Kruse auction in Las Vegas last year for a 1975 Ford Escort GL once owned by Pope John Paul II.

The new Jaguar XJ – bringing ‘sleek’ back!

Jaguar has unleashed the new Jaguar XJ bringing ‘sleek’ back into the Jaguar vocabulary, all thanks to Jaguar’s director of design, Ian Callum.

The new XJ, which is based around just three horizontal strokes of a pen, uses a lightweight aluminium monocoque structure pioneered under Ford’s stewardship.

The new all-aluminium car is available is available in standard and long-wheelbase versions either with a 3.0-litre, 275bhp V6 diesel engine, a 385bhp 5.0-litre petrol or a 5.0-litre engine with 510 bhp Supersport.

According to Mike O’Driscoll, MD, Jaguar Cars, the new XJ is truly beautiful, exhilarating to drive, and with its bold, enlightened approach to design, it meets the challenges of our fast-changing world. It reimagines the ultimate sporting luxury car.

According to Ian Callum, the new XJ is a thoroughly modern interpretation of the quintessential Jaguar. Its visual impact stems from the elongated teardrop shape of the car’s side windows, that powerful stance and its wide track. It is the most emphatic statement yet of Jaguar’s new design direction.

Prices start at $72,125.
