Ferrari partners with Movado Group to roll out the Scuderia Ferrari Watch Collection

Both Swiss watch label Movado and Italian sportscar maker Ferrari have got into a multi-year agreement for the design, production and marketing of a new collection of watches for the fans of the Ferrari brand. The move will go a long way in boosting Ferrari’s watch business through Movado’s expertise in design, development and distribution in order to reach our fans around the world. The new Ferrari Watch Collection that are inspired by the designs of Ferrari GT and F1 cars are all set to be debuted at the Annual Watch and Jewelry Fair held in Basel, Switzerland in 2013.

The Scuderia Ferrari Watch Collection will be priced up to $2,000 and will be sold worldwide through select wholesale distribution outlets as well as Ferrari’s stores and the Ferrari online shop. Combining Movado’s high quality craftsmanship and Ferrari’s impeccable designs will turn the collection into a delight that all the fans can look forward to.

France lately became victim to a heart wrenching episode in France, the Place Vendome was subjected to a major fire that broke out, rumored to have been caused by a Ferrari. Starting at the Level -2, the fire engulfed its flaming wings around a bunch of cars parked there, many of which were rare and were considered exotics. As per the reports a minimum of 40 cars have been affected by the fire and local authorities have called in engineers to look out for structural damages and prevent the same.

Ferrari has confirmed the revised 2012 California convertible will get more power, a lower body weight and a new optional handling package. The model will be about 30kg lighter and will deliver an additional 30 HP. Both the exterior and interior will also be improved.

The changes in weight and power have cut the car’s zero-to-62 mph (0-100 kilometers per hour) acceleration time to 3.8 seconds.

The California, which currently starts at $192,000, will be available with an optional suspension setup called the Handling Special package. It includes computer-controlled shock dampers that react faster than before to keep the car’s body from rolling in turns while maintaining a comfortable ride.

Along with the mechanical upgrades, the new California will get a wider range of color choices, including two-tone finishes and three-layer paint technology.

An unbelievable $400,000 was fetched by a19th-century Tlingit “mosquito mask” from the Pacific Northwest which was sold at the Christie’s auction. Being a value of importance and a lavish piece of art., the item was valuable but the mask was expected to go for one-tenth the price it was finally sold for. Not short of an interesting story, the150-year-old wooden “mosquito mask” was part of an intense bidding war at a major auction of aboriginal art in France. The buyer, an unidentified European collector spent the additional sum to keep his rival Canadian bidder from acquiring the rare object and bringing its glory to his country.
