‘Water of life’ bottled up in Spirit of Scotland !
Whisky lovers may be alarmed by the revelation that the latest innovation in perfume is a new range based on some of the finest malts. The essence of malt whisky has now been captured by George Dodds, a Highlands biochemist, who believes his fragrant creation could form the basis of a new Scottish perfume industry.The malt whisky scent, which has been named Spirit of Scotland, has been in development for three years. A 17.5ml crystal bottle of the finished product will retail at top stores this autumn for about $138. Whisky is in fact not used in the perfume. The ingredients include vetivert oil from Reunion, which provides the essential “smoky-woody” notes, narcissus from Grasse and rose from North Africa to inject “erotic musky” and floral smells.
Last week, Scotland put the Spirit of Scotland- “sophisticated, full-strength perfume intended primarily for evening use’ to the test among whisky and consumer experts.

Wal-Mart advertises in Vogue
Wal-Mart seems to be doing something even more off the wall! Wal”"Mart jumps into the couture market ads in Vogue magazine-the fashion merchandising bible for the well”"healed and fashion conscious. Wal-Mart just bought advertising space but advertising doesn’t necessarily give you credibility. Wal-Mart continues to focus on creating a more fashionable image for itself and the garments on its racks, launching an ad campaign in the May issue of Vogue shot by photographer Patrick Demarchelier. But because Wal-Mart also didn’t want to forsake its emphasis on “real” women, it chose not to use professional models for the shoot and instead picked actual Wal-Mart shoppers, says company spokeswoman Linda Blakely. One of the women pictured in their ads is Kristina Deignan, who was Mrs. Virginia in 2003 and the first runner up at the Mrs. USA pageant Wal-Mart is seeking to portray stylish but “attainable looks.” In a unique twist, they also encouraged its “models” to bring some of their favorite pieces from their own wardrobe to the photo shoot, too. Evolution is essential to survive in retailing.Wal-Mart is reserving fresh, higher-margin merchandise, and trying to lure wealthier women to shop there, to overcome its sluggish same store sales.
Wal-Mart is the world’s biggest retailer and to break into fashion is in opposition to the brand’s core identity. Not to mention a strong competitor like Target, who is already the fashion king, blocking its way!

British car brand Lotus ventures into fragrance industry
Lotus a British car brand that has been around for more than 50 years has now ventured into fragrance industry. The launch of Lotus men’s fragrance featured an open bar sponsored by Ciroc vodka. The gentleman behind this inspiration, Michael Albert believes that “Lotus is such an exclusive niche brand, and this is how I see the fragrance as well. It gives you a feeling of driving through the Mediterranean in an Elise “” the open top of the car, the smell of the fresh flowers and the water.” Playboy’s Simon Stahl and spokesmodel and Playboy Playmate Joanna Krupa were amongst those who attended the jamboree.
Sipping on to lemon-drop martinis and other cocktails, guests examined the Lotus Exige in silver and yellow and a white Lotus Elise.
The highlight of the evening was a golden key for each guest, one of which would open up a glass box containing a giveaway of a three-day luxury vacation at the Sivory Punta Cana Resort in the Caribbean.
