Enzo Ferrari
Enzo Ferrari Museum, under construction at Modena in Italy

A British architecture firm is behind a project to build a Ferrari museum in the town of Modena, Italy. The design resembles the bonnet of a vintage car that arcs over the two storey house that motor racing legend and car designer Enzo Ferrari was born in.
Work for the 14 million pounds museum began this week. The design was inspired by the look of a classic Maserati. The museum will be devoted to Ferrari’s life and work and will contain vintage Ferraris, Maseratis, car engines, film footage and memorabilia. It will chart the career of Ferrari, who grew up next to the metal foundry run by his father, Alfredo. The new Enzo Ferrari Museum will complement an existing Ferrari Museum at Maranello, outside Modena. The museum is set to be finished in 2011 and should bring thousands of car-loving tourists to the town in northern Italy.

Emilia-Romagnese marque Maserati is coming up to its centennial in a few years, and it has been quite a ride. The five founding Maserati brothers shared a passion for racing, a motif apparent throughout much of the company’s history. In 2004, the brand proclaimed its return to racing after nearly four decades of absence with a bang: the MC12, a bigger, bolder take on the Enzo Ferrari. Success at the Fdration Internationale de l’Automobile Gran Turismo (FIA GT for short) proved the racing variant of the MC12 to be a force to be reckoned with.
A total of 50 road legal cars were made available for purchase, one rather special example of which has turned up on James. This Stradale has been babied by its single owner: a mileage of just 9800 km, $40,000 worth of service and repairs with an inspection from the people over at EDO.

GTO 250 – the most expensive Ferrari

Reaching a price of $16 million, the GTO 250 version is currently the most expensive Ferrari and it will probably remain like that for quite some time. The main reason why this model is so expensive is because it’s also very rare. Only 39 pieces like this currently exist in the world. The car produces is limited numbers between 1952 and 1964. Of course, at the moment it was a rarity but nobody could predict that will be the top of the list for so many years.
It’s always been a beautiful sport car, continuing the Ferrari tradition. Enzo Ferrari once declared that if he had to say that when he started he thought of making more than just one car, he would be lying. If he could see the development that this company has seen he would probably be more than surprised. The GTO 250 version is definitely a very special car, with beautiful lines and a very distinctive look. Of course, it more than just a pretty car.
The GTO 250 generated maximum power of 302 HP. It’s capable to reach 0-100 km/ph in barely 5.8 seconds. It’s definitely not the fastest Ferrari but it’s the most expensive one. The GTO 250 is a very unique car. Collectors all over the world wished they had one. Unfortunately, the price is not the biggest impediment for them. It’s the limited production of this particular model.

Golden Jubilee Comes Up For The Jaguar E-Type

The “most beautiful car in the world” is turning 50 this year. The “birthday car” in question is the legendary Jaguar E-Type. Car enthusiasts across the world invariably have their favourite E-Type model, and that is pure testimony to the appeal of this hugely popular automobile.
The Jaguar E-Type had gained much notoriety for being a female magnet in the 1960s. In fact, that was the car’s whole appeal. It was a fantastic looking car that was sure to bring attention from the ladies. Is it any wonder that American auto writer Henry Manney III once described it as “The greatest crumpet-catcher known to man”? The Jaguar E-Type got its “most beautiful car in the world” tag from no less than Enzo Ferrari.
The Jaguar E-Type made its first public appearance at the Geneva Motor Show in 1961. Since then, the car reached one milestone after another. For a luxury car, it sold like hot cakes. Between its launch in 1961 to 1975, 70,000 units of the car had been sold. One of the reasons could be that even in the luxury segment, the Jaguar E-Type was comparatively affordable. Some units can be sourced for a little over 26,000. However, the flashier racer versions like the FIA GTS 10 racer tend to command much higher, six-figure sums.
As the iconic Jaguar E-Type gets ready to celebrate its golden jubilee, British luxury car manufacturer Jaguar Cars is planning major celebrations. And the celebrations are not likely to be confined within the United Kingdom alone.
