Hermes Presents Petit h, High-End Jewelry and Object

High-End Jewelry and Object

Hermes is cobbling together defective inventory and factory-floor leftovers to create what some are calling unidentified poetic objects. A collection has been created under the direction of Pascale Mussard who is the great- great-great-granddaughter of Thierry Hermes. Leather scraps have been turned into a dramatic necklace. A teapot spout has been transformed into a jewelry hangar. The collection has been named Petit h.

Thierry Hermes made a name for himself fashioning harnesses and bridles. Several generations later, the family is fighting off a hostile takeover bid and trying to transform waste into aesthetically appealing objects. Their Petit h collection was first presented in November at the Hermes flagship store at 24 Rue de Faubourg, Paris, where it was offered until Dec. 4. The collection is the result of collaboration between the company’s craftspeople and several notable artists and designers.

Hermes has made recycling luxurious. They have taken up defective merchandise and cutting-floor waste and turned them into high-end jewelry and decorative accessories. A second collection is scheduled for Tokyo and Osaka in May, and a third will be made available in New York and Beverly Hills sometime in October.

The Chinoiserie leather gilt screen from the Hill of Tarvit, Fifeis a brilliant masterpiece, priced at $125,000.

The price tag cannot be called unfair since it has really taken a lot of courage on the part of the designers to create a six-fold screen with panels painted with chivalrous women, each in their own quest in life. Additionally, the painting at 83.5 inches high and 125.25 inches wide also features pagodas, pavillions and walled gardens within a border of birds and floral sprays.

Probably made in London in 1750, this English screen had splits repaired, and gaps filled without a trace, to help enhance your room as a one-off historical decorative element.

This service will offer handmade dresses in a special private space above the Rue Saint-Honorƒ store. The specialty of the service is that it won’t produce more than 35 dresses in a year. The starting price of these dresses will be $40,000.

According to Roberto Cavalli’s wife, Eva, the collection is not the start of a couture collection, but an extension of a service the house has been offering for red-carpet and other relevant events. Clients who want a special outfit from Cavalli now will know that they can obtain it.
