Mansory Vincero Bugatti Veyron

The Bugatti Veyron is a pretty impressive package straight from the factory, but German-based exotic auto tuner Mansory obviously felt there was still room for improvement. Their conversion, produced in an ultra-exclusive limited edition of three for Abu Dhabi-based Prestige Cars, is dubbed the Vincero, Italian for I will win. With 1,109 hp and 967 lb-ft of torque produced by improved intake and exhaust systems along with Mansorys trademark engine tuning, thats no idle boast.

Fully custom forged wheels and LED headlight accents round out the exterior upgrades. Maserati will offer gentlemen drivers who wish to race in the 2010 GT4 European Cup and the national series a chance to purchase the GranTurismo MC race car, developed for the FIA GT4 class and slated to compete in several GT4 European Cup races later this year. The cars will be priced at $135,000 and will be sold directly through the Maserati Corse racing division. An offshoot of the GranTurismo MC Concept introduced last September in Monza, it’s based on the GranTurismo S road version with an electro-actuated gearbox system.

The Italian marque hopes to launch its own one-make series, similar to Lamborghini’s Super Trofeo, in 2010. While performance data is being kept under wraps for now, we do know that the car features the GranTurismo 4.7L V8 engine with the addition of a double cone racing air filter, high-flow exhaust with removable catalysts, and full carbon-fibre bodywork. According to Maserati the car also has a power-to-weight ratio of less than 3.4 kg/hp (4.6 kg/kW) and a kerb weight of less than 1,400 kg, which makes it go like a bat out of Dante’s Inferno.

The firm dates back to I1940 when theSoviet Union acquired the design and production techniques for BMW R71 motorcycles and sidecars, and has been carrying on the traditionever since. Worse Than 50 Million Cars

The current and upcoming pollution limits for cars is a good thing. It drives innovation forward and makes for clever engineering in ways never  thought possible had not limitations been set to provoke an evolution in efficiency. Thus I find it rather peculiar that no proper ragulations have been set to restrict emmissions on the shipping industry, and why not put filters on coal burning power plants while we’re at it. Let’s start lobbying for a halt on restrictions on the car industry and more on all the other filthy things out there. Just think about the engines that could then be available again instead of BMW having to turbo charge their new X5M and X6M, and Audi going from a 4.2 litre V8 in its S4 to a 3 litre supercharged V6 in the new one.

Final McLaren F1 GTR

f1gtr
A new world record was set in London last year when a British-made 1997 McLaren F1 supercar sold for $4 million at an RM Auctions event. One of only 75 examples made, the car on offer more than doubled its pre-sale estimate despite the nascent recession. One of the first carbon fiber-bodied production cars, the F1 was the fastest street legal production car in the world for over a decade, the longest period the record has been held by any street legal or production car in the history of automobiles. Even rarer, and faster, than the production model was the F1 GTR racer, of which only 19 were made. One of these has now surfaced for sale in Japan.

Built for speed, the F1 GTR competed in the BPR Global GT Series, now known as the FIA GT Championship, from 1995-1997, with 9 examples built the first two years and 10 the final year. The car weighed about 910 kg and generated 600 hp from its de-stroked 6.0L version of the F1″²s 60-degree V12. The model being offered from a private collection in Tokyo is the very last example built in ’97, raced at the tail end of the inaugural season of the FIA GT Championship.

EDO Competition Ferrari California

edo
As tuning houses go, Germany’s EDO Competition exercises admirable Teutonic restraint when it comes to making supercars even more super. Earlier we wrote about their Bentley GT Speed; for their latest project they’ve decided to have some disciplined fun with the convertible Ferrari California. With a few choice twists of the wrench “” well, actually a remapped ECU and a pair of high-flow catalytic converters that feed into a new driver-adjustable exhaust system “” they’ve boosted the car’s 4.3-liter V8 engine by 40 hp to give it an even 500 horsepower, along with and 369 lb-ft. of torque.

The bottom line: the topless little tart can now do 0-100 km/h in only 3.9 seconds and won’t slow down “till she hits 315 per. Commendably, EDO has refrained from messing around with her body too much, confining itself to options like 35 mm lowering springs, adding a full-on sport suspension system with adjustable damping, and various sizes of badass wheels.

BRUSA Spyder

2_brusaspyder
While most of Tesla’s designs are quite nice, there’s certainly room for other electric roadster contenders to shake things up a bit. Enter Swiss firm BRUSA which specializes in building components for electric vehicles and has now decided to design a car of its own. The BRUSA Spyder actually began life as a student project at the Swiss Buchs NTB school of engineering before catching the firm’s eye, perhaps because rival Swiss concern Protoscar has electric sports cars of its own in the works.

With artfully-rendered Porsche-derived looks, the BRUSA isn’t aiming to replicate Tesla’s supercar-in-a-can specs, but is content with more than reasonably sporty performance. That still means a respectable 0 “” 100 km/h clock of under 6 seconds and a top speed of over 200 km/h. The Spyder’s two synchronous electric motors each kick out about 127 hp through an individual rear wheel for a combined output of about 270 hp.
