The Porsche Design Tower

The Porsche Design Tower

According to the Knight Frank Wealth Report 2011, unequivocally that even in a capricious world economy, there are a few things that do not change. John Styles, head of fund management at Knight Frank Investors, says confidence is returning, and direct investment into residential and commercial real estate is the most favored option.

The venture’s first proposed project will feature a 57-story ultra-luxury tower called The Porsche Design Tower, complete with a sky garage, in Sunny Isles Beach. This tower will showcase a one-of-a-kind robotic parking system, allowing owners to park their vehicles in sky garages directly next to their units. It’s a first for Florida, but not so much for New York City.

The sky garage has already become a lucrative amenity in Manhattan. A  lavish, 19-story building at 200 Eleventh Avenue is nicknamed ‘Sky Garage’ for the auto elevator that allows residents to drive in, hop the lift and park their cars on their own floors, right next to their town home. The units are two stories each, and if the owner has no car, he or she can use the garage space as storage or a studio.

Because a high profile person can drive right in without being seen in public, this building has drawn in many A-list celebrities; Nicole Kidman, Kelsey Grammer and Domenico Dolce of Dolce & Gabbana have already bought in. The space is 2,360 square feet, the private sky garage is 332 square feet, and as of this posting, the prices range from $6 million to $29 million for the two penthouses. All have been sold and a few are up for re-sale. This New York success is no doubt a major motivator for The Porsche Design Studio and Dezer Properties in Florida.

Units at the Porsche Design Tower will range from 3,800 to 9,500 square feet. More than one-half of the units feature a duplex layout, with the ocean-facing units including a private pool. Porsche Design Tower units are expected to range in price from $2.9 million to $9 million.

The tanker is designed to do this with the help of latest hybrid technology marrying power from LNG with Solar and Wind Power. By doing this the Emax Supertanker will be expected to reduce fuel consumption and GHG emissions by at least 35%. With its long and narrow design it is expected to navigate the enlarged locks of Panama Canal with ease.

AS per Richard Sauter a Solar Hybrid Post Panamax VLCC presents us with a major win win scenario, for apart from safeguarding the planet, oil companies can look forward to savings of up to 60 million dollars a year on the purchase of fuel, which at today’s prices not only pays for the Emax Supertanker in under 4 years, but increases their earnings over her service life by over 1.5 billion US dollars.

2010 Rolls-Royce Ghost recalled due to a fire risk

2010 Rolls-Royce Ghost recalled due to a fire risk

If we look at Rolls-Royce recalled 589 of its 2010 Ghost model cars, we would realize that it was one of those few mistakes committed by the super luxurious brand Rolls-Royce recalled 589 of its 2010 Ghost model cars due to a technical malfunctioning with their engine systems. The Ghost uses a reworked version of the twin-turbo V12 and apparently the electric auxiliary water pump was said to have the possibility of overheating and potentially resulting in a fire. It also indicates the fact that all the cars of the Rolls-Royce Ghost 2010 bought between September 2009 and September 2010 will have to be returned to the dealership for repairs. Of course this problem will be taken care of by the company free of charge and a new auxiliary water pump will be installed after careful care and inspection.

A similar incident took place with the BMW when the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration had to issue a recall for the same problem earlier this week. The vehicles using the automaker’s turbocharged eight- and twelve-cylinder engines are faced this problem.

2012 Range Rover Evoque is Motor Trend’s 2012 SUV of the Year

2012 Range Rover Evoque is Motor Trend's 2012 SUV of the Year

The Motor Trend staff has taken on the daunting task of carefully selecting and evaluating candidates for its Sport/Utility of the Year Award, since 1999During an intense process, Motor Trend put 10 of the latest SUVs through its standard battery of testing, examining virtually every aspect of each vehicle. Starting from the off-road capabilities and ruggedness and going up till a three-mile course of highly-challenging terrain, to evaluating real-world road manners on a 35-mile loop filled with twisting back roads, open highways and low speed in-town driving, Motor Trend’s editors left no stone unturned.

The 2012 Range Rover Evoque has been named as Motor Trends 2012 SUV of the Year. British-automaker Land Rover extolled that its all-new 2012 Evoque is the smallest, lightest, and most efficient Range Rover ever produced. The award is the first major accolade for the all-new SUV.

According to Andy Goss, president, Jaguar Land Rover North America, it is a significant achievement for the Range Rover Evoque to be deemed the best new SUV on the market by Motor Trend, one of the pre-eminent brands in automotive publishing.

It was also kept in mind that both the versions of the award-winning vehicle, a coupe and a five-door, with base prices of $44,995 and $43,995, respectively, are forthcoming. While the length and the width of the cars are identical, the five-door option has a slightly higher roofline. The USA-bound models have a four-cylinder 240-horspower, four, and direct-fuel injected, turbocharged engine with a six-speed automatic transmission.

A stylish, leather-upholstered interior is standard, as is a full-length panoramic sunroof, as well as Range Rover’s signature central eight-inch touch-screen control and display interface for communication and entertainment. There’s also a new five-inch color information display.

As per Angus MacKenzie, the editor-in-chief of Motor Trend, the Range Rover Evoque is a bold move into the fast-growing compact luxury SUV sector. Refined and capable both on and off the road, it artfully combines traditional Range Rover values with stunning state-of-the-moment design and impressive efficiency. The all-new Evoque is a radical departure from Land Rover’s more traditional offerings. Offered in both two- and four-door variants, the Evoque transcends conventional perceptions of a sport/utility vehicle; seamlessly combining sporty styling and agility, with off-road prowess and utility.

Carhenge, made from 38 vintage American cars

If you are an automobile lover, then you’d rather head over to Nebraska to catch a glimpse of the Carhenge instead of going to see the real Stonehenge in UK. However, as a car lover, this is a good time to pitch in to keep the structure alive too. The structure has been put on sale by Friends of Carhenge group, the nonprofit organization that runs it for a very reasonable price of just $300,000! Located outside of Alliance, Nebraska, it was put together by artist Jim Reinders as homage to Stonehenge, in 1987 and sports 38 cars. The tourist count on the site amounts to over 80,000 tourists every year.

Right now, the site is free to visit, with just a small gift shopto generate reveniues. The NGO had plans to introduce facilities like a campground, convenience store and go-cart track, but alck of funds killed the dream. And there’s something good coming out of your purchase. The sale proceeds will be used to pay off debts, and “establish an art scholarship and promote tourism in the area”.
