Non-flying wooden seaplane fetches $506,000 in an auction
A non-flying 1917 seaplane with a 50feet wingspan fetched a massive $506,000 at the Bonhams’s annual space auction. The Curtiss MF “Seagull” Flying Boat crafted by Glenn Curtis which has been bought by an anonymous buyer was touted to fetch anything between $300,000 and $500,000.
Another item which fetched $152,000, doubling its originally estimated price of $80,000 was an Apollo 11 flight-plan sheet. This sheet has been signed by Neil Armstrong that read and it reads “One small step for a man – one giant leap for mankind.
Curtis Flying Boat expected to fetch $300,000 to $500,000 at Bonhams
Engineer and aviator Glenn H.Curtiss’ has designed a magnificent piece of artifact in the MF Seagull Flying Boat which is to be sold at auction on Tuesday April 13 at Bonhams in New York.
Expected to fetch an estimated $300,000 to $500,000, the Curtis Flying Boat was originally created for the US navy before being re-configured in the postwar years to the ŔMF Seagull. The boat was made out of wood was given hammered copper trims and time-worn patina, with increased horsepower and additional seating for the postwar civil market.
According to specialist of the sale, Rupert Banner, this fantastic Curtiss Flying Boat provides a fitting opening for the sale of vintage aircraft in New York, and it joins an illustrious list of aviation marques that Bonhams has recently offered, including two of the most recognizable and famous aircraft of the 20th century, the Hawker Hurricane and Supermarine Spitfire.

Electric Sofa Boat with additional laptop docking points and a built-in fridge
An electric Sofa Boat priced at $16,000 was unveiled at the Abu Dhabi Yacht Show recently. The boat that was designed, developed and built in the UAE features a 3.5m floating platform with a folding sun canopy, joystick steering and a soft-foam bumper.
There’s also an upgraded model, the B2B version, complete with additional laptop docking points and a built-in fridge.

- A hand-crafted billiard table covered in golden sheets was put up for sale at 60,000 euros.
Cigarette Racing unveils Mercedes SLS AMG inspired boat
Cigarette Racing unveiled a new speed boat inspired by the Mercedes SLS AMG at the 2010 Miami International Boat Show last week.
Dubbed the 46′ Rider, the boat has manufacturing expertise and materials ‚ from AMG.
Hand-painted in Mercedes’ own Alubeam silver along with Mystic White stripes, the boat features a luxurious cabin with marine-grade upholstery which resembles the two-tone AMG Designo porcelain and white Nappa leather offered on the SLS AMG.
Power comes from two twin-turbocharged 9.0-liter (552 cubic inch) Mercury Racing engines with 1350 hp (1007 kW / 1369 PS).
The price of this lavish boat is not known yet but there are many speculating that the cost will be not less than $1 million, that is nearly five times the price of an SLS AMG.
