The 2010 Hurun Report is out, this time with the lifestyle trends of China’s 875,000 millionaires.
According to Hurun Report founder Rupert Hoogewerf, there are 1900 people with the equivalent of EUR 110billion in China, which is twice the number of people included on the 2009 Hurun Rich List. All this suggests that there is a hidden class of low-key rich, who maintain low key.
It was also found that the luxury possessions of these millionaires include collecting watches (4.4 luxury watches on an average), Chinese classical art and 3 cars on an average, while their leisure activities of choice include travel, golf and swimming.
Looking at the fact that one third don’t drink and almost one half don’t smoke, the report rightly points out that China’s millionaires are becoming increasingly sophisticated in the way they spend their money and at a remarkable pace.
Also, interestingly, the Chinese millionaires prefer Great Britain for their children’s secondary schooling and USA for University with Philanthropy being the established outlet for China’s rich. The major concentration of donations is in the field of education, disaster relief and social welfare projects.
