Starting from sunglasses, underpants, watch, hair the list has now reached a Bible. All of these have one thing in common and that is the most popular American singers of the 20th century, Elvis Presley. The Bible that once belonged to the King of Rock and Roll has grabbed our attention as it has fetched $94,000 at auction in Greater Manchester. The 1,600 page book contains handwritten notes by Presley and was given to him by his Uncle Vester and Aunt Clettes for his first Christmas at his Graceland home in 1957.
As per the auction site, it was Elvis Presley’s most precious book throughout his life from Christmas 1957 to that final day on 16th August 1977 and he read and wrote in this Holy Bible over many years. Though it was estimated to fetch about £25,000, the holy book sold for more than double its value.
According to Karen Fairweather, from the auctioneers, there were three rival bidders on the phone and once it got over £20,000 each bid was taking a while, because they each had a price in mind for the bible and they were thinking about it.”An American man based in the UK won the aggressive telephonic bidding. However his exact identity is not revealed.
