Slyvester Stallone designs Montegrappa Chaos pen

Slyvester Stallone designs Montegrappa Chaos pen

Latest collection from Montegrappa, the famous manufacturer of writing instruments has writer and actor Sylvester Stallone written all over it. on the contrary the collection is designed by Sly as he is fondly known, who also happens to be the new face of Montegrappa’s advertising campaign. Aptly named Chaos and rightly so, the design for the pen was inspired by classical art by 16th century artists including Battista Franco, Albrecht Durer, Hans Sebald Beham and Antonia Pollaiolo.

The pen body is crafted from black pearlized celluloid with sterling silver or 18K gold overlays. Montegrappa’s skilled craftsman carefully added antiqued finish with red and yellow enamel accents that represents the colors of fire. It is finished off with details of fist, skull, reptiles and the pen’s clip is brilliantly transformed into a sword.

The Chaos pen from the Cult collection will be presented in limited edition of 1,000 fountain pens ($5,400) and 912 roller balls ($4,700) in sterling silver. In addition to that 100 fountain pens ($61,800)and 100 roller balls in solid 18K gold ($65,300) with another 10 fountain pens and 10 ball point pens in solid 18K gold set with precious stones will also be made available.

Ateliers deMonaco Quantieme Perpetual QP EZ Watch

Ateliers deMonaco Quantieme Perpetual QP EZ Watch

Ateliers deMonaco wanted to make a user friendly perpetual calendar watch that was still a high-end mechanical timepiece in all manners. Using their familiar case style and design they have developed the Quantieme Perpetual QP EZ watch, all based around the QP-EZ automatic movement. The movement is simple, it uses a function selector on the dial to tell you what you are adjusting, and it is all done via the crown and a single built in pusher. Just pull the crown out to its first position, and then turn it to select what you want to adjust. The selection indicator is in the subdial that is also used for telling you what week in the year you are on.

The movement features jumping indicator and a safety system designed to prevent damage to the movement while adjusting it. Ateliers deMonaco also designed it to be very accurate by using a silicium balance wheel. They claim 1-4 seconds a day of variation. On the back of the watch you’ll see the dutifully hand-engraved automatic rotor in gold. I must admit to being impressed by this package.

The watch functions include the time, day, date, month, leap year indicator, and week indicator. The information windows are pleasantly arranged and legible. The Quantieme Perpetual QP EZ watch comes in a 43mm wide case that is available 18k gold, with a titanium core. The complex case is made up of 31 parts. There is more gold on the dial, as well as titanium.

Montegrappa Pen To Honour Bruce Lee

Montegrappa Pen

Bruce Lee is in the news for more reasons than the soon-to-release film version of popular television series The Green Hornet that starred Lee. In a bid to honour the action star on his seventieth birth anniversary, Italian pen manufacturer Montegrappa is re-fashioning one of its signature pens, “The Dragon”.

1,912 units of the original “Dragon’ were produced by Montegarppa in 1995 to celebrate the company’s founding year. While most were fashioned out of black mother-of-pearl celluloid and sterling silver, 100 pens were made in 18K gold. “The Dragon 2010 Bruce Lee’ limited edition differs from the 1995 version on several aspects.

The pen is indeed a work of art. The top of the cap flaunts the symbol of yin and yang, a sign of balance. The body and the cap of the Bruce Lee edition is made of red celluloid and black veining. Beautifully detailed dragons adorn both the barrel and the cap of the pen. The dragons on the sterling silver versions have rubies for eyes. Other precious stones like black and white diamonds and emeralds double up as the dragons’ eyes in the more encrusted versions.

Montegrappa is producing 2010 units of the Bruce Lee Dragon priced between $4,675 and $102,200. Collectors, watch out for the 10 ultra-rare sets of a fountain pen, a roller ball and an inkwell costing $290,550.
