70 year old Glenlivet whiskey unveiled

Whisky lovers should be aware of all the brands starting from good one from a not so good one and Glenlivet for sure falls in the first category. Gordon & MacPhail’s Generations range has unveiled a second release “” Glenlivet 70 year old whiskey. This was distilled on February 3, 1940. It is packaged in a stunning tear-shaped crystal decanter that was hand-blown and features a silver stopper and base as well as a handmade box crafted from Scottish Elm.
Highland Park Leif Eriksson

Highland Park unveiling a new limited-edition single malt Scotch whisky later this month. Named after Leif Eriksson, the special scotch is set to debut at the International Association of Airport Duty Free Stores (IAADFS) trade show later this month.
The special bottling honors the first European to reach America. Legend has it that Leif Eriksson set out on his voyage from the Scottish Isle of Orkney, which sits in between Norway and Iceland and which serves as Highland Park’s home.
Bottled at 40% ABV, the 700ml Highland Park Leif Eriksson will retail at $88 in the United States before being rolled out in markets around the world.
Bushmills Single Cask 19 Year Old Rum Cask Finish

St. Patrick’s Day must be celebrated with some extra special spirits. New York’s Park Avenue Liquor Shop is the first and only retailer in the country to obtain a unique Bushmills Single Cask Single Malt Irish Whiskey bottling finished in a rum cask and aged 19 years.
The cask in question produced only 420 bottles which have been bottled exclusively for Park Avenue Liquor; they’re priced at $125 apiece. “We are happy to have this bottling, the second rum cask finished Bushmills for the shop,” notes Park Avenue Liquor Shop owner Jonathan Goldstein. “An Irish whiskey finished in rum casks is pretty unusual.”

Dalmore Whisky Sold at a Record Price

A single bottle of Dalmore whisky has suit the first bottle of whisky ever to sell for a six figure sum after two limited edition bottles were snapped up for 159890 each.
The 64 year old Trinitas was acquired by a whisky lover in the US and a renowned whisky investor in the UK. The third bottle of the record breaking spirit will be sold at the Whisky Show in London at the end of October with exact details being kept under wraps for the time being.
Trinitas contains some of the rarest and oldest stocks of whisky in the world, some of which have been maturing in the distillery on the shores of the Cromarty Firth for more than 140 years.
Balvenie Distillery Releases Limited Edition 40-year-old whisky

Leading independent distiller William Grant & Sons recently unveiled a new, limited edition 40yo expression of The Balvenie Single Malt Scotch Whiskey at the recent TFWA Asia Pacific show in Singapore.
Limited to just 150 bottles, the 40-year-old expression of The Balvenie Single Malt Scotch Whiskey, aged in sherry casks and refill hogshead hit the markets July 4 with each one priced at around $3,947.
According to Malt Master David Stewart, this is the first time they have created a 40yo for The Balvenie …The whiskies used in this expression date from the mid 1960s, and it was important to take their time to find the right mix of casks and get this new expression right.
Each limited edition bottle is being offered in a bespoke wooden case, hand crafted in oak by Sam Chinnery, a celebrated Scottish craftsman.
Auchentoshan Launches 1998 Limited Edition for 2010 Whisky Festival

Auchentoshan’s Head Distiller Jeremy Stephens has released a limited edition single malt, a 12-year-old bottling from 1998 to have nothing short of a grand festival – featuring whisky tastings, live music and cooking classes – this year as well.
