Indian entrepreneur Wakil Admed Azmi, owned luxury resort, will be the first attraction on The World to open to the public after Dubai’s property crash dealt a blow to the development. The island of Lebanon and the construction work has hit $16.3 million. Nakheel plans to offer tourists day and dinner cruises around The World as it moves to reposition the project as a tourism destination. The island also has plans to create 500 artificial reefs around Dubai in an effort to regenerate marine life around the emirate’s coastline, and aid the local fishing industry.

Qatar is constantly making news these days. The latest is this amusing semi-submerged resort project aimed at protecting marine area in the country’s coast. Italian architectural firm Giancarlo Zema Design Group is set to work on the $500 million Amphibious 1000. It will be divided into two sections of land and sea and will accommodate residential buildings, offices, a central marine park, floating walkways and underwater marine galleries. A central tower will have a panoramic restaurant. The sea area will have four semi-submerged hotels, each having 75 luxury suites positioned around the perimeter of the building. The main lobby is centralized and will have a display of sea life featuring water exhibitions galleries, large aquariums, and a glass passageway leading to an underwater observatory.

It will also host 80 floating suites called Jelly-fish with underwater viewing decks looking out to an artificial reef bed. These can accommodate up to six guests and will have five levels connected by a spiral staircase. Levels feature a relaxation room, sleeping quarters and bathrooms, kitchen and bathroom, guest rooms and bathrooms and finally a private aquarium lounge.

Philippine casino operator Alliance Global plans to build another 6,500 hotel rooms over the next five years as it ramps up investment in the country’s tourism sector. The plan includes the launch by year-end of its 2,500-room Resorts World Bayshore project on Manila’s seafront, its chairman Andrew Tan said in a statement.

It also includes a previously launched $345-million project to build a 2,500-hotel room tourism estate called Boracay Newcoast on the central resort island of Boracay.

According to Tan said in a statement, they are extremely bullish about the prospects of the Philippine tourism industry. They have committed substantial resources to build up our capacity and be a major player in this sector.

Alliance Global, through a joint venture with Genting Hong Kong, runs the Resorts World Manila, built across the street from the capital’s newest airport terminal. The complex, launched in 2009, has the Philippines’ largest casino. Four more hotels will be added to the existing three at Resorts World Manila.

Resorts World Bayshore, to be built over 31 hectares (76 acres) of reclaimed land owned by the government, would be the second integrated tourism estate of the joint venture with Genting Hong Kong.
