The ring which was on paper last April is out as a physical piece. Geneva based jeweler Shawish unveiled the world’s first all-diamond ring at Basel 2012. This blindingly dazzling ring is made from 150 brut carat rough diamonds from Brazil.

The entire process of cutting the diamond and shaping it into this unique ring Mr. Shawish developed a copyrighted process, and he and his technician successfully developed laser equipment which allowed them to cut directly into the diamond. It took them almost a year to develop the process. The color of the diamond ring is certified an E and the clarity is VS1.

For the month of June for instance the birthstone of which is pearl, Garrard has added an additional pearl which is hidden beneath the arches of the crown. For November, the sapphire is set within 18ct white gold to complement the deep and vibrant blue hue. In order to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee on the throne; Garrard is also launching a Diamond Jubilee exhibition in the Queen Mary room at 24 Albemarle Street, its Mayfair flagship store. Three prints from the Cecil Beaton exhibition at the Victoria & Albert museum displaying the Queen wearing Garrard jewelry will be the highlights of this exhibition.

The sparkling new stone will go under Sotheby’s hammer at Geneva on May 15. The gem named the “Beau Sancy” has been a part of the fluctuating European royal family’s fortunes for well over 400 years. The 35-carat modified “pear double rose cut” diamond original was owned by to Georg Friedrich, Prince of Prussia. It is estimated to earn between $2 million to $4 million. The stone has its origins at the mines in India near Golconda which was acquired by Nicolas de Harlay, Lord of Sancy, in Constantinople in the 1500s from where it gets its name. In 1604 the stone was purchased by French King Henry IV for 75,000 livres for his wife, Marie de Medici. Other such rare stones that went under the hammer include the vivid pink, rare yellow diamonds and pink and purple ones among others.

The Argyle diamond mine in the East Kimberly region of Western Australia recently unearthed a 12.76 carat diamond which is touted as the biggest pink diamond to be ever found in the mine that also happens to be the world’s largest producer of pink diamonds. The diamond is expected to fetch at least $10 million and will be named as the Argyle Pink Jubilee. We have seen quite a few pink diamonds such as the Golconda Diamond ring and the pink diamond auctioned at Sotheby’s, but none of this size and stature. The work of cutting and polishing has already started off by an expert team appointed for the job which will be followed by grading by a team of international experts and it will finally be showcased to the world before being sold as part of the annual Argyle Pink Diamonds Tender later this year.
