The actress is known to host an over-the-top Halloween party every year where the dress is “costumes or else” to raise much-needed funding for her New York Restoration Project, but the dancing diva outdid herself in 2008. During cocktails, guests like Martha Stewart, John McEnroe, Pink, and Jimmy Buffet were treated to an assortment of appetizers prepared on-site by chefs like April Bloomfield, David Chang, Tom Colicchio, Fergus Henderson, and Jonathan Waxman. Michael Kors, as always, judged costumes; Alice Waters of Chez Panisse fame was awarded the “Wind Beneath My Wings” award, and Gloria Estefan and the Miami Sound Machine finished off the night with an unforgettable concert. This year, you too can attend and rub elbows with guests like Carmelo Anthony, enjoy a menu crafted by the one and only Rick Bayless, and dance along to music icon Stevie Wonder.
2.Heidi Klum’s Halloween Party
Apart from the beautiful looks she is well known for her role on Project Runway, and as the wife of music artist Seal (and the mother of four), but she also throws one unforgettable Halloween party every year. Sometimes it’s in LA (as it was in ’08 and ’09), while in 2010, her 11th annual soiree took place at New York’s LAVO on Halloween Night. Dressed up in red and purple as a robotic superhero, Klum mingled with guests like Ke$ha, Sports Illustrated model Brooklyn Decker, Ashanti, and Kim Kardashian, and sipped on Absolut Bloodys. This year, Klum is taking the red carpet and her over-the-top costumes to Las Vegas for the first time, hosting this year’s party at Tao at The Venetian on Saturday the 29th with one of her favorite DJs, QuestLove. Even after Marilyn Monroe saying that the River of no Return was one of the worst movie she has ever made, one of the private collectors did not even held back once from buying the awe-inspiring dress she wore in the song ‘I’m Gonna File My Claim for $504,000! The green velour dress really stood out in the 1954 Western classic in which she played Kay Washington, a gambler’s wife.
The film on ther contrary received a very cold response when released; the critics stated that the best part of the movie was the charismatic screen presence of Miss Monroe. Julien’s Auctions house in China made another big deal with the sale of the most memorable and famous white dress worn by Marilyn Monroe in ˜The Seven Year Itch for $4.6 million this summer.
Gaddafi died as the richest man in the world
As per the latest data released on Muammar Gaddafi, he has been placed as the richest man in the world after beating King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia ten times and Carlos Slim three times in a queue. With over $200 billion worth of wealth distributed amongst banks, real estate and corporate investments around the world, senior Libyan officials state this figure is true through a LA Times article. Where did all this money come from? Well Gaddafi had exclusive influence and personal control over the largest oil reserves in Africa for the past 41 years. He did not invest his assets in national infrastructures such as, hospitals or educational institutions like the other oil-rich leaders around. Any expense he did make was on purchasing the support of various African leaders. The rest of his money was kept safe in government institutions like the Central Bank of Libya and the Libyan Investment Authority.
Jack Tweed spends $500,000 on a flat
Jade Goody hasn’t left anything to her husband (Jack Tweed) in her will. Jack who is under curfew from 7am to 7pm as part of his probation for attacking a 16year old boy with a golf club is buying a 350,000 pounds (US $496k) in a private estate alongside Premier League Footballers and models.
He agreed for the deal for the flat last Thursday, four days after his wife Jade Goody passed away due to cancer. Among the new neighbors in the exclusive development (which is close to his mum’s home in Buckhurst Hill, Essex) will be England striker Jermain Defoe and glamour girl Danielle Lloyd. The 21 year old has managed to earn 140,000 pounds ($200k) from recent photo shoots. A pal of Jack’s quoted, “Jack’s done the deal. The mortgage is approved and he loves the flat.”
Paris Hilton orders a $400,000 diamond encrusted dashboard for her pink Bentley
The Hilton heiress wanted to buy a Bentley for a long time, especially a pink one. In December 2008 she bought for Christmas this extremely pink expensive car. And not just that, she had the body and hubcaps of her Continental LT spray painted Pepto Bismol pink, replaced the trademark Bentley initials with her own, and had the windows tinted so that the paparazzi couldn’t snap photos of her inside. It’s worth $200,000.
Recession seems a distant island to her. It has been reported that Paris, 27 will get the blingy dashboard flown out from the firm’s British Headquarters in Crewe to be fixed on her Continental GT in Los Angeles. Paris got one of her guys to phone Bentley in Crewe, to explore the possibility. Dunhill introduces limited edition real gold lighters in honor of Elvis Presley
Dunhill lighters have been known for their stylish designs and rugged utility. Even the king of “rock and roll’, Elvis Presley had a fad of Dunhill lighters. So to pay homage to the famous rock star Dunhill debuts the Elvis Presley edition lighter.
The lighter will be an 18 carat yellow gold Apex lighter, based on an example of a Dunhill lighter Elvis owned. The lighter, which is a slim Rollalite model from the “50s, is exclusive as only 50 pieces of this eye-catching lighter are going to be for sale. The lighter will be carrying a heavy price tag of US $13,000.
Madonnas Material Girl dress goes under the hammer
For the uber-rich who are still shopping at Cartier, buying diamond-studded phones and traveling in their private jets, Madonna’s 1985 “Material Girl” dress is being auctioned off at The Fame Bureau’s Rock and Roll sale on April 28. The original costume including the long satin gloves is expected to fetch a cool $87,000 to $116,000. The starting bid is 30,000 pounds “” about $43,725 U.S.
The pink dress is one of the most widely recognized and iconic costumes in pop history. Zara Phillips owns a 250,000 pounds horsebox
Equestrienne and young royal, Zara Phillips is the reigning Eventing World Champion who won the World Championship in 2006. The royal eventing champ is currently riding high in a plush 250,000 pounds horsebox christened “Oakley Supremacy”.
The extravagant horsebox boasts room for four horses, a shower, two widescreen TVs, high-tech sound system, walnut interior and computerized cameras. It also has a slide-out extension to entertain guests.
