Dubai Collectors rumored to buy the last British Concorde, Alpha Bravo

The last British Concorde may be sold by British Airways to Dubai, it has been reported. The plane dubbed “Alpha Bravo’ was to be put on a display at the Heathrow airport.
BA’s seven-strong Concorde fleet was grounded in 2003 and six of the planes were given to museums. It is not thought likely that the plane could return to service as it doesn’t have the safety modifications that the others got after the 2000 Paris crash. A consortium, which is being advised by former Concorde pilots, is planning to take control of the craft, according to The Telegraph. Ben Lord, of the Save Concorde Group, told the newspaper: “Sending it to Dubai would be a kick in the teeth for Britain’s aviation heritage. Chopping off its wings and putting it on a ship would be the final insult.”
Glenys Ambe will be first Australian woman in space

The 56-year-old fashion shop owner from Brisbane was a star guest at a technology launch by Virgin Galactic in Sydney, which included a digital simulation of the two-hour flight that will cost her $277,400. All up, the two pilots and six passengers on board will spend just four minutes in space “” that’s a cool $69,350 a minute to experience the thrill of zero gravity.
Testing of the six-passenger craft, SpaceShipTwo, and its mother ship, WhiteKnightTwo, is expected to take until mid 2011. Commercial flights will follow later that year under a lottery system for the first 500 passengers, who include Sir Richard, his family and other VIPs. Ms Ambe is one of 15 Australians, and 300 people worldwide, who have bought tickets and will fly after the VIPs. She will be the first Australian woman on a space flight, realizing her dream sometime in 2012 or thereafter. It’s really long but she doesn’t mind the wait. She says,” That’s OK, space will still be there. I’m not a three-year-old who needs it now.”
The rocket-propelled spaceship will then detach and burn fuel for 90 seconds to reach an altitude of 110km. It will remain suspended in zero gravity for four minutes before gliding back to its point of origin at an airstrip in the New Mexico desert. US Travel company Virtuoso heads ticket sales for Virgin Galactic and expects prices to emulate the history of passenger jet travel.
The $6m helicopter designed by Hermes

Falcon Aviation Services received its first “Helicoptere par Hermes” on Sunday at a ceremony held in Abu Dhabi. The $6million EC135 helicopter is created by collaboration between Eurocopter and Hermes, the French designer of luxury goods. “This helicopter illustrates a fusion between design and technology, where every detail has been created for VIP and business travelers,” said Salem Al Kayoumi, FAS’s vice-chairman.
The helicopter combines a spacious cabin with a seating capacity for four passengers. The cabin was completely redesigned by Hermes Interior and Design to maximize available space: Surfaces from floor to ceiling have been covered in “Toile H’, a Hermes canvas. The craftsmen of Hermes Interior and Design have optimized the use of fabrics and leathers to soften ambient noise and vibration. Consoles, drawers and cabinets have been recessed or placed entirely out of view. A sliding glass partition now separates passenger compartment and cockpit, enhancing privacy while allowing light to enter. Even the landing gear has been redesigned to allow for easier and more elegant access to the cabin.

Large windows give spectacular views while ensuring more light. There is the ambient lighting too just in case you want to keep it subtle for a romantic moment. The overall feel of the flying machine is spacious and airy.

Blue Star Jets, one of the world’s largest private aircraft charter brokers, has launched the world’s first online marketplace for travelers seeking to minimize costs by sharing private jet flights “” the ShareAJet Exchange.
