Guerlain perfume bottle from 1870 sells for record $54500

An 1870 Guerlain perfume bottle recently sold at an auction in the city of Arcachon, southwest of France for the record sum of $55,600.
The precious Guerlain flacon engraved with the original address of the Guerlain boutique “Rue de la Paix” was originally estimated at $23,950 to $35,891. Another more obscure perfume flacon, Depinoix by Julien Viard (from 1920), also broke a “world record” fetching $38,765.
More than 250 perfume bottles went under the hammer under the presence of French fragrance expert Bernard Gangler. The auction witnessed participation from bidders across the globe including, India, Russia, China besides France.
